Harshita was silently sipping her coffee when everyone in the café turned their gaze towards her and started whispering under their breath. In a simple off white shirt and blue denim jeans, she looked more as a recent college graduate than a winner of the Miss Femina 2017. A few days ago, she had won the hearts of millions with her charisma and her beauty. And today here she was, sipping her coffee, as if it was just another day.

The coffee tasted so much delicious than the usual. She deserved that delicacy. After all the hard work she had put in for winning the Miss Femina 2017, she deserves more than just a wonderful cup of coffee.

As she sipped the fresh ground coffee, with extra foam, her mind had gone back to the finals of Miss Femina. The last few moments before the winner was announced. Tension was building up in the audience, in the contestants. And the judges weren’t really helping ease their tension. They were talking about random things and not announcing the name of the winner. They were telling about how the competition was a close one and participating is the main thing and not who has won. Yeah, tell that to the people who will flood the winner with offers after you declare, she thought.

Finally, they have come to the part to declare the winner. “Harshita” the winner of Miss Femina 2017, they announced. The moment went in a blur for her. She couldn’t believe that it was actually happening. All these days, all those words by all around her. She now had achieved her most important dream of all time. She had won the title Miss Femina 2017. She was crowned in front of an entire audience, and many more watching her from their homes.

She has defeated all those who had turned her down. She had defeated all those who had mocked her when she declared her dreams. She had defeated all those who thought she could never do it. It was a moment, etched in time, for everyone. And it would be the most beautifully etched moment. She is the Miss Femina 2017. It was time for her acceptance speech. Everyone was eager to hear what she had to say. And in a way, even she was. She was rendered speechless by her euphoria. She was smiling as they called her up to the podium to give her acceptance speech.

“Uh… uh…” she fiddled for a while. She was out of words to talk. She prepared for this moment every day for the past year, but when the moment had arrived, it became a little too much happiness that she forgot her entire speech. It took her some time to recollect her memory and remember her speech.

“It’s a proud moment for me. A moment I’ve been waiting for a large part of my life. I am here today, after repeated efforts of many people. I will try to cover all of them. First of all, my parents. How much you wanted me to be an engineer? And here I am, with the dedication that you showed in my future as an engineer, winning the title. Thank you for showing that dedication and motivating me to hold the same level of dedication. My friends, thanks for helping me out whenever I needed. For all those late night audition practices, pick-ups and drops to the studio and back, for the motivation in the gym and the aerobics classes. You guys are the best. I don’t think I could have made it here without you. And all those who have supported me on different social networking platforms. That gave me motivation to go on, when I was about to give up. And those who tried to bring me down. Ah, without you, what would I do? If everything in life was sunny and nice, I don’t think life would ever be spicy. As you tried to bring me down, it gave me strength to move up. And that is what matters. Thank you, all of you. I wish you a very good luck in your life. Please bring a lot of great people into the world.” She ended her speech.

There was a standing ovation. No one could control their tears at such a beautiful speech. There was no one in the room who wasn’t crying or trying not to cry at the speech she has given. A small one, but a powerful message.

And as the memory passed through her mind, her lips broke into a smile. She knew she had achieved what she wanted in her life. And she is as happy as she wanted to be. She did something in her life. And that is what counts. Her thoughts broke paved way to reality, as she saw him approaching. Her first offer. Her first offer had come.
